It all began with the phrase, “It is I, Murray, rumored of in legend and song.”
Actually, no it didn’t, but I’ve always wanted to start an entry that way.
It really all began on a different web site, called the Urban Legends Research Centre, which I operated for approximately 4 years, and which I closed down a little over 2 years ago, while going through a rather painful divorce.
ULblog.org is intended to be a different type of venture than was the ULRC. Where the ULRC was meant to be an authoritive urban legend reference site, ULblog.org is more intended to be an online space for a relaxed (and hopefully at least mildly interesting) discussion of urban legends, superstitions, ghost stories and other folkloric traditions.
Please feel free to join in wherever and whenever you wish. Add comments. Submit urban legends, ghost stories and superstitions. Enjoy your visit, and peek back from time to time, to see what’s been added.
Murray lives, works and dreams in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He’s been interested in contemporary folklore since he was 10 years old, when he was told his first urban legend ; though he didn’t know it was an urban legend at the time.
Since that age Murray has collected examples of strange and unusual stories people tell each other as being true, and became more formally interested in urban legends and contemporary folklore as a research topic in his mid-twenties.
Also, he is sick of referring to himself in the 3rd person…
