Old legends never die…

Once upon a time, on a part of the internet somewhere over there, a guy I used to know ran a web site that was a little bit like this one…
On the 12th of April, 2003, I posted a farewell message on the front page of the Urban Legends Research Centre, explaining that I was going through a sad period in my life, and that I felt it was time for me to set down my self-imposed quest to investigate urban legends, even if only for a little while.
A little while became a year, and a year grew into 2. However, as I said back on that day, I knew a time would come when I would want to start again.
The time has come. I want to start again.
Last time, my goal was to build a reference library of urban legend research. This time, I intend to kick back, relax a little, and explore the things that catch my interest. I have this desire to share these things with the wind and the rain, and because the wind and the rain never remember, I will share them here, too.
I hope you’ll join me for a journey into the things we sometimes believe. Leave comments, disagree, share with others.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy the time you spend here, and that you’ll come back occasionally, to see where the journey has taken us.
Much warmth,
Murray @ ULblog.org

Hi Frances!
Thank you for the welcome back! To be honest, I’ve been thinking about launching a new site devoted to Urban Legends for quite some time, but I’ve been held back by the fact that there are already several wonderful ‘All you ever wanted to know about Urban Legends’ web sites out there, and while the ULRC was at one point one of them, these other sites have far outstripped what I’d achieved on the ULRC in the years since I closed it down.
It wasn’t until recently that it occured to me that I could approach Urban Legends and folklore from the same perspective that I’d been approaching any number of other topics on PlanetThoughtful – as a subject matter I like to write about – rather than in an attempt to create a definitive resource on all things urban legendary.
So, ulblog.org has been born to be the place where I intend to do that very thing – simply write about the things that have interested me about all types of folklore for a number of years.
Again, thank you so much for the welcome!
Much warmth,
Murray
